The digital Proof of Age has a Service Victoria QR code that businesses can scan using the Service Victoria app or applicable e-scanning system, to check your identification is valid.

The scanner can only view details you choose to share. Some businesses and organisations need to store info from patron IDs and may scan your digital Proof of Age using other software. The digital Proof of Age lets them store these details, if you show your QR code for scanners.

Digital Proof of Age works a lot like the physical card in terms of age checks at licensed venues. Liquor Control Victoria issues the physical cards, while Service Victoria issues the digital Proof of Age. The physical Proof of Age card is a physical card for Victorians aged 18 and over.

To get your digital Proof of Age you'll need a verified identity, which you can choose to save. To verify your identity, we'll collect details from your ID documents and ask you to take pictures of them with your phone.

We'll use this to create a digital identity for you. We'll store some details including your verified name, date of birth and selfie image. We don't store copies of your ID documents. We won't use your information for any other purpose unless permitted by law.

When you use your digital Proof of Age, the people who scan it will be able to see your details.

Some businesses and organisations will store your information and your photo when they scan the QR code. You should only share your digital Proof of Age with businesses and organisations you trust. By creating, having and using your digital Proof of Age, you consent to Service Victoria collecting, using, sharing and storing your personal information. See our Privacy and Security Policy.
